my opinion of this eh....

well.. whats the point in MFS paging out your brigad if most of your fire calls are sent directly to your alerts system by triple zero diversions?? presumably most of these calls that went to MFS for  your area would have been such things as SAAS or SAPOL or security companies passing details to the wrong service.. and all calls that went straight to your alerts would be people dialling triple zero and asking for fire, whilst in your area.. (if that makes sense mate)

its good that MFS can page most brigades and obviosuly would be great if they could page you rather than "wasting" time calling your alerts and then that call going through SHQ...

but thats the syste atm i guess...

CFS operationally = un-predictable

you could be going to an MVA and end up at a grassfire
you could be going to anythign and end up at something waaayyy differant, has happened to us..

"respond: RCR" it was a nice warm day.. heading towards it, could see smoke, got there car had caught fire and started quite a large grassie.. but i know what you mean CFS_Firey

a hah!!!

the electric pumps for priming are the rotary vane pumps...

diaphragm pumps are hand pumped, and i dont think we would really use and ejector pump as it doesnt seem sutied to the kind of need we would have for a priming pump.

just get structuire helmets (preferably the cairns 660s) for EVERYONE

they may be a little bit more expensive, but do definitely offer more protection, and i know they have less air-flow, but hey.. im in a busy urban brigade that also gets more than its fair share of grassies, and i have never had an issue IME

why do we as vollies need dress uniform... thats a bit of a wank i think.

as for yellows on planes - my thoughts are just too wear whatever is comfortable, it is both uncomfortable for vollies to wear the yellows for long flights (or short flights) and unreasonable to expect Qantas, jetstar, whoever to allow it on the plane... ESPECIALLY AFTER THE FIRE... ROFLMAO

no other option for my brigade... or my whole group for that fact..

i know theres too much crap already..

but perhaps, from a saftey point of view, it shud become like everyones level 1!!

entrapment/burnover shud become an accredited unit, that everyone must be trained in before they get a pager and ride the trucks to calls...

Why don't we start by everyone on this forum going to their brigades and changing their helmet stickers, there would have to be at least 50 or 60 brigades on here. What are they gonna do sack us.
This forum could actually be quite a strong force of people if we all had the same opinion.

HAHAHAHA.. yeh if u can find a supplier that will get/sell the stickers to you

i always thought the people wearing there yellows onto the plane looked like d/heads when there was news coverage, and its gotta be damm uncomfortable.

im pretty sure almost everyone in the cfs has at some stage been either given a shirt or gone out and bought one, just where soemthign that identifies you as a part of the CFS...

« on: October 12, 2005, 03:15:26 PM »
HAH if ur group would bother with that kind of thing, or hasnt already overspent lol.

i have a kit bag in my car boot, that i bought from FARA a couple of years ago, it has a complete set of NOMEX plus some boots from home, plus gloves/dust mask/goggles/protective glasses/nitrile gloves/etc etc...

the bag also carries my empty camekback (1.5L) a bottle of water, sunscreen, towel and spare clothes...

basically has everything i need except for a helmet, and i have it in my car all year round shud i need it for some reason.

we train mondays....

but hey when i sy train, i mean we have a meeting once a month, dont train on public holidays, and even when we do train that could mean we only go for a drive for a while, or bowl a hose and roll it up.. very rarely dfo we actually do anything useful...

sometimes i get the impression that i am the only one in the brigade that actuallsy gives a rats...  :|

There are a few places still doing the star by request, FARA definately still do it....

spoke to the FARA guys today... they have been sent a directive saying they are not to issue any equipment with the star on it, unless it is dress uniform type stuff...

so tell me... how the hell is it that a corporate logo is being used for all operational PPE/Appliances/etc...

OMGWTF!!!!!!!!!
