Just because they get 1 new premises in their area doesnt actually mean their call rate will go up "big time" (Unless the installation is very poorly maintained). We got a new nursing home in our area about 3 years ago and we thought the same, but i reckon we've been there no more than 6 times in 3 years.

Interesting a member of the public says they reported it at 2:30 but this seems to be the 1st page for it? Noting the time.

Yeh a lot of strike teams from a fair distance away....closer ones yet to be deployed eg. Onkaparinga and Strathalbyn.
Would consider the likes of Para and maybe Gum to be closer than Strath?

SAAS / Re: SAAS Retained?
« on: January 13, 2008, 05:46:38 PM »
So from what is stated:-

* SAAS volunteers get reimbursed for travel costs & expenses.
* The employer gets paid if SAAS volunteers respond during work time.

* MFS retained get a small hourly wage

Have I got this right ??
Hmmmm, sound similar system but would be different on tax returns.

Personally I like the SAAS system.
I believe retained MFS get a monthly retainer ($300?) plus somewhere in the region of $20? per hour for calls attended. I'm sure someone will correct me if these figures are'nt right.

333
Are you sure you want to do it for free you'll be there a while Zippy
At least it WILL get done!

I wonder if the MFS will be asking for their $50  :?

It would be very nice to see the Prescribed plans existing in Bom's for recommended responses.  Brigades could point out  'No thats incorrect'.

At Least...when something goes wrong...CORRECT IT permanantly.
Been there, tried that. We got a copy of ours, worked out what needed to be changed and guess what? Nothing happened. Stiil chasing it now.

MFS maybe re-writing the response areas already. Or just our magnificent CRD system working efficiently again.

Welcome to remote area firefighting......Not sure if they have the man power but if they did may be time for a 3 pump at ceduna???
Obviously not if they have to page out for a 2nd crew?

"i think they would use common sense to deploy tankers and hazmat appliances to appropriate jobs."
Trouble with common sense - its just no that common :-D.
cheers
It is MFS comms we are talking about after all.  :-)

Looks good.

Sounds like you'll have plenty of video of Seafood defaulting and MFS appliances already at jobs in no time!

Is it intrinsically safe?
Maybe he could get some footage of MFS firefighters and put it on funniest home videos.

just have a strike that involves less available pumpers to be dispatched..show the potentional future.
That already happens now, its what they call "reduced response". So they wouldnt be breaking any new ground there.

The public are unaware of what is going on in all emergency services and its time that they where informed, its also time the MFS showed its respose times to jobs, its time we all worked as a team and supported each other(my god did I just say that) I must be getting old.
I read somewhere that MFS claim to have a 30 second response time. I think that that would be a bit un-achiveable in most cases. They would have to be sitting in the truck ready to go to achive that every time.
Was up in the comms centre a while back and a call came through and it took the 1st truck someting like 2 mins before it left.

I reckon they'd want to sort something out soon or all the public will see is a multi-million dollar fire station with nothing in it. And we all know they like to see their money wasted!

Thas like SOP 2.8 that states SAPOL should be called for all incidents but a lot of brigades dont bother
Thats cause no-one want to hang around for an hour or 2 waiting for them.

And yeah, the CFS does tend to cock up a fair number of fires it attends.
MFS have been known to turn a quite simple fire into a large job as well. :-)
