If Your On The Fire Ground & You Need Oxy, Whats Wrong With Just A Normal BA Set Minus Cleaning, Could There be Some Type Of Attachment That Could Be Made Or Does The Oxy Have Other Properties?

I have no doubt that its clever..... I still think its wanky.... but definately clever!  :D

I Think Its A MFS Wanna Be.  Don't Get Me Wrong I Like It, I Mean Its A Good Idea If Your Already At The Station (Manned All The Time).

I'm Thinking Ladder 49.  All I Am Waiting For Is The Gong To Go Off & Then Some Guy On The Radio Reading The Job Out :D.

It Would Be Good If The Pagers Had A Little Speaker In Them.  Eg The Pager Drop Tone Sounds, Then A Voice Read's The Pager Job.

SA Firefighter General / what does the VFBA do????
« on: May 18, 2005, 04:38:42 PM »
We had the people who do the http://www.fire-brigade.asn.au/ website come down & get some station stats & photo's.

We have a member that goes to the VFBA meetings & he advised that if anyone wants to know about what the VFBA does let them know & they are happy to come down.

Excellent question.. I've been wondering the same thing...
Also, does any one know if its possible to get a subdomain of cfs.org.au? (ie have www.stirling.cfs.org.au)
I Like That Idea. Subdomains Of CFS.  Does That Mean That They Will Have To Host The Site's Then?

Country Fire Service / Brigade Websites

Just a quick question.  We are looking at creating a brigade website to help draw in members & also use it as an information post.  I was wondering are they any requirements by the CFS in regards to the information or images posted.

I understand we can't show casualties, but things like a car accident with the rego plate not visable.  Would this type of thing be suitable.

Storage of the gear.

I heard that it must be kept in an air tight dark storage area.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I like the MACK.

What's the length of the fixed suction hose???  Can an extra lenght be added if needed?

Room for only two CABA sets.  Was there any space space, eg could we fit another 2?

Country Fire Service / NSWFB Wallet's
« on: April 27, 2005, 02:53:24 PM »
CFS_firey,

Thats true.  I have a CFS number plate sign around my number plate, which has Country Fire Service accross the top & Fire Fighter along the bottom.

I also have a reflective helmet sticker on the back of the car, which is red & the person tailing me when they have there lights on at night makes the sticker glow really well.

Until the CFS shop opens I will have to live with Fire & Rescue @ Blackwood.

Goodtimes,

I see your point.  What if there was a registered kept at headquaters with like a serial number ingraved on the star so that if one ever did come up for sale it could be traced back to the original owner.  Just a thought, I mean I can see your point however I still think they are cool & I would like one.

What Do You Mean By Mis-Use?

I Could See Some People Flashing It In An Attempt To Get Out Of A Speeding Fine & Other Stuff Like That But Thats It.  I Have Sent A Request Of To The Company To Get A Price On One With The CFS Star.

I was wondering what everyone else thinks about CFS wallets.

I would like to see something simlar to the pictures below, but with CFS star.  Eg. Something that we can put our CFS ID's in but also have a metal CFS star badge.

I know if they were available I would purchase one.

What are your thought's?

some years ago while giving a talk to a school this kid said to me why do you do it? I said in the fire brigade there are 3 types of  firefighter.

Those that like to see their name up in lights
Those that like to the rush of the chase
Those that want to put something back into the community

Well I Would Have To Say 2 Of The Things Are Correct In My Case.

Those that like to the rush of the chase
Those that want to put something back into the community

we have seen of late that members are not turning up for fixed alarms and this is a real problem.I have always said that one day a fixed alarm will be a real job.

Yes we have that problem as well.  I think we need to go back to the old style pagers (eg. we don't know what the job is until we get to the station).

Even if the pages say ### CALL OUT ### CFS Respond To Station.  Then when we get to the station we can checkout the display & find out what the job is.  This prevents members from choosing there jobs.

Has anyone played Emergency 3 http://www.sixteen-tons.com/emergency3.html

Got it the other day & got hooked.

Got home from work one night & said to myself I might have a quick game, next time I checked the pager for the time it was 1:30am.

I think that if you could pass the necessay fitness requirement for BA you should be fine for interstate jobs.
