There's a few coppers on this forum...

If these people wish to take it up with me privately im more than happy to discuss the issue.  And im  not saying all coppers are like this but i know a fair portion!

At one MVA, one of the coppers sat back and looked at speeds, but didn't pull anyone over - The fastest he saw was 140 Kph - that's someone driving past the incident, with one lane blocked....

See that really shits me.  How can a Police Officer just ignore that?  Its total BS!

There are ways to make it safer but i think they just choose not to do it!

Like its not hard to have a radar setup at the scene (hidden) and then have a couple of patrol cars further down the road to pull them over.  Even if its just to warn them!

If i remember correctly the Response for Kimberley Clark Australia @ Millicent is

1A = Millicent, Tantanoola & SAMFS (Mt Gambier) (Millicent have a Type 2 Pumper)
2A = Wattle Range Group Response - Mt Burr, Glencoe, Penola (maybe one or two more) (Penola have a 24P)
3A = Strike Teams From Gambier & Naracoorte Groups (Naracoorte have a Pumper)
4A = Regional Response (Robe & Lucindale have 24P's)

Just thought i would share a response plan from outside the city.

i have been to numerous accident scenes and fire scenes where cars have not being doing 40kph and the cops just ignore them.

Unless there is a donut attatched to the car i guess its not worth the effort? (Sorry If this Offends anyone but im sick of this happening!)

better still could get smokey out there with a baseball bat and some rocks(joke)....

Had a police officer tell us yesterday at an accident scene if someone wont slow down to throw rocks at them.

As much fun as it would be id be hoping he was joking.

Yeah we dont have the luxury of picking and choosing most of the time.

But when it comes to a CABA job then obviously a BA trained person has priority over a no BA person.

Pretty simple in our brigade though....standard rolling time is 8-10 mins.  If no one else is there within the 10mins mark you know they aint coming!

My bet is if we said "Upgrade to a second alarm" most people would be like wuh?

Its more like "we need more trucks now!"

Not sure about Brukunga but i heard a rumour that last year the Region 5 Training budget was 100,000 in surplus....

So why would they or why do they need to charge us?

Barker rescue is an Izuzu.

I think the reference to trucks was souly identifying the fact about lighting, not the make of truck.  (Another thing I like on the Mt. Barker Dennis is the High Vis striping on the back, very effective in my opinion and should be introduced firstly onto all appliances working in built up and highway areas, and then across the board.)

The coucil truck comment is fair (and im guessing in good humour), as heck, our trucks are white !  If we had skyjets people would think the cherry picker from the local council was arriving on scene..

Yeah fair enough maybe i over reacted....I dont mind the look of our trucks....Bit different which is good

688
Do they have 2 scania brontos now or was 205 diverted cos i thought i saw it get paged to the commercial fire just before the reserve bank one?

Dun know

Ok first problem the public think we are council trucks no fire appliances.

If you are having problems with being seen your brigade should seriously consider upgrading your lights/warning devices and striping. Look at appliances like Mt Barker pumper and Rescue which have been upgraded from standard lighting they stand out a lot more. Also I know Mt Barker have lights on their station and on Adelaide road warning emergency vehicles entering.

For Info and prices on lighting check out -http://www.emergencyandsafety.com.au/

Seriously Man No Offence but just because it isnt a Dennis or a Scania does not mean its not a fire truck!

Give me an izuzu over our hino anyday!

All well and good to pull out in front etc but if they hit you its your fault...go figure.

With the sound proofing and idiocy of drivers and doof doof music its no wonder people dont listen/pay attention to sirens.  Cant say we have had a hell of a lot of trouble.

Also wondering whether the sirens on CFS trucks are up to scratch as well....seem alot quieter then the other services.  or maybe its just our truck or im going deaf could be any of them.

Does this not sound strange to anyone?

Why should a brigade/group have to pay to use a training ground?  I mean fair enough they might want to limit the use so it doesnt get abused but really thats ridiculus! (spelling?)

Considering we are all funded from the same place and all to me im just at a loss.

Gday Folks,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on something for me.

Does anyone know why 204 (rescue appliance) is responded to alarm calls etc along with 205 etc....

Does 204 carry structural gear or is purely man power?

SA Firefighter General / Re: roadside marker's
« on: June 13, 2006, 05:43:54 PM »
Okay, to put it into perspective Camo... As your experience with roadside vigil (sp) / markers is obviously very limited.

Think of a dark, fairly commonly used piece of road, a vigil located less than half a metre from the roadside (on a bend),up to 6-8 foot high, with flowers, clothing, crosses, candles (often lit) and all sorts of other memorabilia...  some times, on this dark , fairly commonly used road, up to 10-15 people standing around this vigil, often on the road and road side causing a severe traffic hazard...

As I said, it is a touchy subject as unless you have experienced it would not know the pain or heartache involved....  And as I also said, I for one would not have the nerve to tell the family to remove the vigil or any I have seen like it...

Cant say i have seen one that extreme that is just silly really....i remember we had one in MT Gambier not quite as big but the council actually met with the family to have it removed/desized.

even still my comment on driving still stands.  Just like these people that cause accidents while watching emergency services at another accident site....ooooh pretty lights *BANG*

im a for and against person on this subject but one thing i will say.

How ditzy of a driver do you have to be to be distracted by a black pole with some flowers on it and crash because of it...now seriously if this is you tell me now so i can stay off the road next i see you because you might be distracted by my car and come crashing into me!

Hide it behind a tree when you leave your next RCR and tell the nearest cop someone stole it..

hehe....make sure its the person you least like just incase they find out and lodge a false police report thingie.

does this mean you have some competition with selling your alarms Bill or do you still sell them but hook them up through the CFS?
