Mr T, just when I thought you had changed, you come out with a clanger reply....Flametree's couldn't be more accurate.
ITS NOT YOUR TRUCK.....its allocated to you, its not 1971 anymore....GET OVER IT, if you have a serviceable truck that fits your needs then that's the end of it. A bit like the current insane allocation of new trucks to stations that do less calls than I have fingers.
sorry, to break your heart pump.....but the world will keep turning. And I dont remember saying it was 1971. I was responding to this thread in particular which is about a photo from 1971, but it was Flame who turned it into a anti CFS rant on Brigade ownership....but what would u expect I guess.
The Government Fleet Manager provides a basic truck with radios, pump, lockers and a basic hose and crappy tool fitout. For many Brigades that is sufficient and they use it and maintain it as provided. No problem with that at all. Some Brigades turn the truck into an effective firefighting appliance with better gear, better hoses, secondary pumps, better tools and equipment, better warning lights, hose winders, satnav, etc etc
For many of us, our Brigades raise their own money to supply additional fitouts to make our life easier and to provide a more effective service. Most of the features on the current builds of appliances come from Brigades fitting their own stuff, so while the socialist view of community ownership is fine to a point, it is human nature to want to use what u are use to and what you use every day. No-one is saying they arent the Government Fleet's appliances (they arent actually the CFS' either) to move around as they see fit; just that there needs to be some level of condsideration for those that maintain them saving the Fleet Manager thousands of $$$ in the process. It cuts both ways.
