When sold at Government Auction, they seems to sell for around $20,000 each.

Not sure where the funds go...

It has been some time since an appliance was sold at the Government Auction, but they seem to be very slow to sell, and often go up two or three times before being sold.... there doesn't appear to be a huge market for old fire trucks...

Last week the CFA had their auction of around 35 appliances(30 hino tankers,2 type 2 small town pumpers and some old rescue units) all where sold by Tender so there is a life for the old appliances may be we need to look at better advertising for the auctions..

Thus for every 20 old fire trucks at $20k, the CFS can buy a brand new, fully stowed Heavy Pumper!
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

Probably goes into govt. revenue, cant see it going back to the CFS.

The Hino's have been fetching up to $23,000 at the State Supply auction even the old Wilpena 24 went for a mint.

They then show up at truckyards for around $35-42,000

Five......

Any appliance retired from its brigade, which might be suitable for use, is sent to other brigades...... those sent to auction are generally sent to auction because they are no longer suitable for CFS use (eg mechanical issues - or just a lack of availability of parts should they be required,  pump is stuffed, the body is rusting etc etc etc

There will be a massive glut in the next few years, in the late 80's early 90's they were buying up to 90 24/34's a year, so there will be a massive problem.

their stowage was not really enough to be classed as a fire truck. And originally planned to be for the first strike team of crews flown in to KI the locals had taken the trucks so we had nothing to use (mind you you can;t blame them)

It was a big surprise going over there and finding trucks with little useful stowage, crews with little no or half their ppe and many people who seem to just spring up when there is a fire and don;t even know where stuff is stored on their truck. Very different to around here.
