I've emailed HR a couple of times and have received responses from them fairly promptly - the last response was today and it just seems like they're busy sorting through the 1st squad and we will 'receive notification as soon as possible'. Looks like we just need to be patient, enjoy Xmas and wait for a response in the new year.

OK so I didn't have to wait until the New Year  :-D I just received an email saying I was unsuccessful in the interview process and I could register my interest to receive feedback on my interview in the new year.
All the best to those still in the process.

I heard some of the questions asked in the interview. Quite ridiculous.

Yeah it was a hard interview and I left it feeling like I hadn't done well.

They sounded like psych related questions some of them. How can some HR clown and a few firefighters be qualified to draw conclusions from the responses?  Sounds quite half baked. Oh well, i dont have to worry about it this time. Maybe next year

Who else is going to be?? A number of panels included commanders and those running the forthcoming drill squad.

People can't have it both ways. You can't on one hand complain that the interview process is to rigid, not personable enough and doesn't give the opportunity to weed out potential spuds and then on the other complain that it is too personal and gets to know you on a deeper level.

Given you have not sat in an interview beater, i'd pipe down. There has been a major overhaul of the application process and what you've seen this year is here for the foreseeable future. Figurw out a way to make it work for you rather than whinge.

If you want to ask psych related questions then someone with a psych related background should probably ask the questions. I have sat many similar in the ADF and its not a corporal and a Sargeant analyzing responses, they may ask the work related questions then a professional deals with the rest.
But of course you would defend the current recruitment process...
Anyway im out, see you all next year, need to go study up on ways to improve my personality  :)

Well I passed the medical on Thursday last week...white coat syndrome resulted in me wearing a blood pressure monitor for a day to verify that I am not on the brink of explosion  Interesting to read the results of the various different tests...I have never been so 'measured' in my life! Plus it's a good way to kill time while I wait for more news.

On that, I was told by one of my referees that today (Wed) is the due date for their reports (MFS supplied them with some questions I'm not privy to). Seems like it will be wrapping up soon - waiting for something in writing before I truly believe I made it into the service.

You may get a pretty sweet Christmas present this year!
Sounds interesting with all the tests and then the referee questions.

All the best!

Nothing in writing yet! I guess it will be early in the new year before this happens. Merry X-mas all!

Heard it won't be until late January to allow time for those who don't have their MR license to get it.

I got an email on Wednesday telling me that I am not required to do the PAT2 at this time but I have been placed in a consideration pool and to keep fit until further notice in the new year.

So they won't confirm you're 'in' until you get your truck license?

Would be great to know when the next round of interviews will start and how many they take through for it. I'm guessing it will be early on in the new year but that's just an assumption.

With the new process applicants are not required to have their MR until late in the process. There are multiple applicants  who passed the PAT2 and medical but does not have their license. I think they were given 4 weeks from their medical to attain it which takes things to around mid Jan.

All applicants will be notified at the same time late in January.

Notified at same time in January would prob mean recruit course start date late feb one would imagine to allow for giving 4 weeks notice to current employers etc. left foot strap or anyone- if they were gonna call for another lot to be interviewed, (if required to suss the pool for a potential 2nd squad) when do you rekon that would take place?

I believe there are enough left over from the first round of interviews, plus those who have been PAT2 tested,  but won't make the final cut to easily fill a second squad.

I hear invites for interview may have been sent out yesterday to those in the pool that had successfully completed PAT1.
