Yes, I think Backburn you are thinking of the khaki dress uniform. These Greens are a very recent option.

I am Curious to know if all responding appliances going on taskings are equipped with a Comfort Kit or Ration Pack. If so what sort of things does it have.

Ours has the following
Bake Beans x2, Spag x2,
Instant Soup x2, Biscuits (pack), Barley Sugar,
Musseli Bars x10, sugar, coffee, tea, milk,
Kettle, 2 burner camp stove
plus all of the extra little bits, eg cups, spoons etc.

Like to hear what you carry, if anything.
Maybe there are better options than what we take

I think it is time to take a look at Task Forces.

What does a Task force consist of now?

(Due to the ammount of 4x4 Landcruiser type units available, should they be cosidered as task force vehicles)

Is it time to do away with Group Task Forces

(Maybe we should be doing composit crews; eg 1 crew member per brigade to create a crew per group with only 1 vehicle per group going at a time) (A composit Task Force the same as was done for the Riverland recently)

We did a combined MFS/CFS training with Victor MFS. Yes, we asked the question and they said then that their responce area had been extended up to 40 km's

Fire Fighter Training / Re: Emergency Driving/Traffic Control course
« on: December 12, 2006, 08:34:30 PM »
I have done the full 2 day course and am full trained in traffic control and traffic control devices.
SAPOL are teaching you about Traffic Marshalling. One day you will be at an incident which police may not be able to attend to. Then you may be placed into a situation that requires traffic marshaling.
You will find that a large number of SES are trained in Traffic Marshaling, but again, the SES are not always going to be there either.
I prefer that my members be offered the chance to learn the basics in marshaling than to know nothing at all.

Hey, nobody is forcing anybody to do anything.

Its something that we did here, it looks like other brigades have done marshaling as well. We found it very interesting.

Well I have decided that its time for at least the Officers to start looking the part when representing the brigade at various things, eg promotions, school visits etc. I am sick of members having to wear their scrubber overalls to represent us. They are only issued 1 pr.
I have organised the brigage to fund fitting out the officers and members a 50% sub to be fitted as well.
I am the only one that has a full dress uniform, so it will be nice to see officers standing side by side at least looking the part.

I seen a local brigade in a christmas pagent recently and they really didnt look to good in their dirty overalls.

I would rather have good comments than bad about our appearance at these events.

Not everyone will agree with me, but that is life :-)

Thats my biggest beef Oz. No good training to do if we cant get there safely.
I am hoping that CFS will do what SAPOL do and do a emergency responce driving presentations course. Police do it yearly.
Even if it is a couple or so from each brigade is a start

Hmmm, Well I wonder how many brigades or groups or what ever actually do debriefings after they have attended incidents. :x

I wonder how many actually get briefed before they go on to the fire ground. :x

Not heard of bar coding but why not try it.

If they barcode my butt, everytime I walk out of Woolworths the barcode detector would go off and cost me $5.00 a kilo. :-D

The Officer wearing the Green uniform indicated that it was being made available to all CFS members.

I hope it wont become a required piece of gear.

Fire Fighter Training / Emergency Driving/Traffic Marshalling Course
« on: December 10, 2006, 01:22:00 PM »
Recently I organized a Presentation Night with SAPOL.

I asked SAPOL to talk about Priority Driving/Emergency Driving & Traffic Marshalling.

They sent an Officer from Traffic Management down to us and I also invited a local Officer from Victor Harbor to attend.

I organized it as a brigade training event. It was very successful with other brigades being interested in attending if I organized another session
30 attended the 1st session.

A 2nd night was set up at Port Elliot with another 75 members attending representing 3 Groups and 11 brigades.

The Traffic Marshaling section was a certified course with all members passing. SAPOL organise for certificates to be issued.
People dealing with traffic control (events, parades, accidents etc) should look at this presentation.

The cost for the presentation was $0.00

If you want more info just message me and i can give you contacts etc

It really is a good night. The night went for approx 90 minutes.

While in Waikerie I saw several CFS people wearing Green 2 piece dress type uniforms.
Has anyone else seen them. I spoke to one of them about the uniform. It seems to be a half way between uniform, half way between Yellow firefighting and Dress uniform.

Has anyone here got a set of this already. If so, i would like to hear what you think  :-)
