I would consider it a courtesy.

If you couldnt be bothered telling me its broken, why do i need to know its fixed?
Your much better giving people all the info, or none of it. (either way someone will still complain!)

HAG = Hazmat Action Guide

The numbers repesent instructions on what PPC/PPE is required, and how the substance should be delt with...

Think of it as a more detailed version of the Hazchem code.

Now days its distributed as in the form of a yellow pad, but there is an older version that was printed on green (and should not be used anymore!)

Imagine if CFS got Skyjets and Telebooms one day....is this back on topic :-D

Depends which incident you want to respond them to ;)

For the benifit of Hazmat206 you not only need to paint the picture of circumstances, but also pose a question.

What is it that you want people to discuss about this thread????

Ah yes Mike, wasn't that fun, I only got the pleasure for a short time, think that truck cost a lot of money in its last year.

A lot might be an understatement.

Interesting to see a discussion paper has been opened about brigade requirements for vehicles.... Opens a lot of the issues we have discussed previously.

Not so ammusing however when you have a flat battery and an air leak :(

I do miss that truck though... was brilliant when it was working properly...

Stall recovery is not about the engine stalling due to the load induced by the hill its-self. Its about getting yourself secured in position and preparing from there.

You still have to give an auto some revs to get it moving (while risks breaking traction) or it will roll back

I disagree Pixie.

Autos run on down hills, are unable to do stall recovery, will 'hunt for gears and do other innappropriate gear changes. After all one of the fundamental rules is to select the appropriate gear before tackling any obsticles

Manuals in 4x4 situations are much better.

Whilst I would like to say manual for urban built in environments as well, I cant disagree with the benifits of auto for this application.

We have had mixed success. Its all dependant on the call takers assessing their environment before answering the call. With discipline it works well, with stupidity its as good as useless.

thankful that i found my smelly last pair of socks on the back of 34 from the gumeracha fire while en-route lol

Remember to wash said socks every now and then to avoid 'gassing' everyone else on the appliance....

Always carry a bandana or triangular bandage. Handy for so many reasons.

limiting is their description....

The AFAC study from a year or two ago suggested 38mm and under to be 'Wajax' and anything above to be 'Storz'.

No dramas

The internal bore of the 25mm stortz wasnt 25mm, that was the limiting factor.

Ill have to re read the study CFS did. I thought they were going to Stortz for everything except 25.
Oh well.
There is a tray with a full set of adapters (not sure what exactly - but the other crew that had a look asure me its enough)

Maybe Bill, but the pack hike doesnt take weight into account.
We should start somewhere? Dare i mention the word professional/personal development?

KI was for a whole different batch of reason i suspect. After all there has never really been much success with crew welfare over there (they do try, just never quite get there). then we can go on to mention trashed appliances etc.

Anyway, thats another topic that im sure will arise again this year...
