thats 28th of Nov

Right in Fire Danger Season.

Why dont we wait till Feb 17th instead? You know, when we have a good chance of a major fire happening!

Isn't today the day SACAD goes live for MFS, CFS & SES?

Yep, and politicans speak the truth without spin, and we stop referring to sports people as heroes.

The timing of the initial release was always dubious, just before the start of the MLR fire season, but now to be cutting us over during the actual fire season is ludicrous.

Postpone it till April now!

It does thanks.

That was my sneaking suspicion but curiosity kept getting peaked. Hence crews like Whyalla and Barossa only being a B crew - as the 181 crew would have the 'A' vehicle  :-)

Can anyone explain what the difference is now with some of the on call country crews?

I have noticed, especially in the south-east with Naracoorte and Millicent crews of NCA188 and NCB188 also the same for Millicent.

I know the 188 is the on call volunteer crew, have seen them even get tasked during the day lately, but what is with the A and B?? They quite often get paged together. I have noticed places like Barossa and Whyalla seem to only have a B crew paged.  Is it Cert levels or something?

This is scary enough to not qualify for funny pager messages

DUMEROCHA 34 WILL BE OUT OF ACTION FOR THE NEXT APPROXIMATELY 16 HOURS. xxxxxx. - CFS Gumeracha Response

Seriously...how long have they been taking our pager messages for - yet they still get it so horrendously wrong!

CFS standing down from Far North today, but there is talk if we need to go back up, it may be a task force rather than a strike force, sending up 3 QRV's with a 34 as water support or 2 qrv's / 2 34's.

My apologies, I did mean Kapunda.

Too much wine  :-D

BUT...if the boxes are part of evidence as part of the investigation, then it would be an SES task (remember, they do sort of still fall under Police jurisdiction in a round a bout way). No different to SES doing an evidence search anywhere else really.

But I also understand what you are getting at, we use and abuse the volunteer time way too much.

my turn.......

Q.)  Where are they going to put all these new recruits?

A.)  In the fifth seat on the appliance!

Murray Bridge might be a good start. Then Tanunda.

My brigade has mobile phone at the station on permanently when we get a call if your responding you ring the number and a hang up first person at the station checks for missed calls and knows who's coming. Cost $0.00 to run simple fail safe system.

Fail safe till the first major incident where everyone else in your area is on a mobile and the tower is congested. Or there is no tower because it fell over during all the shaking of a big earthquake. Mobile technology is great, but a long, LONG way from fail safe!

When will SAPOL finally get the point it isnt up to the "VOLUNTEER" to do jobs like this.

So what do you propose instead? Pull out 10 patrols from Adelaide and send them down to Bordertown to do the work? Wouldn't preparing a vehicle for recovery be part of the RCR operations? So rather than keep the volunteer crews out there, standing around twiddling their thumbs for hours while Major Crash take their photos, do their mesaurements and tests and whatever else, they release the volunteers, let them go get a couple more hours sleep, then bring them back one the recovery phase of the RCR operations is ready to begin.

Squirting locust carcasses off the road, now THAT is something thats a complete waste of volunteer time.

Actually crews are still on the ground up there, as well as command staff in the Bushfires NT EOC.

Looks like SACFS will be withdrawing at the end of the week, with vehicle retrieval now being organised......

The initial strike team went up to help with asset protection and some mitigation burning, with the relief crews doing mitigation and hazard reduction burns around Alice Springs, as well as being a rapid response team to any new fires.

But are they specialist hazmat, or just the basic gear? I dont know what a 9 stowage would be, but I noticed that the Hazmat at Hackham on Friday or Saturday (days are a blur right now) even when it as a Met job they sent 206 instead of 439 or 469......

I also noticed that the paged Hag info confirmed that full splash suits were required...would a standard 9 rescue pumper carry these and associated gear?

Pardon my ignorance, I dont really get to play with red trucks in my role....and even when I do not to the extent of knowing their stowage. Always willing to be educated :)

Umm...would it be the fact that EDNH28 is Eden Hills Hazmat, which is far closer than the MFS Hazmat truck in the City??????

Looks like those paging issues for the Crystal Brook job are going to have further ramifications.

Last night was reported the motorist walked away, but overnight was transferred to Adelaide with serious head injuries......
