Come on if some groups where to leave these trees for the local council to do then call rates would go down....But I have to agree tree jobs are council or TSA job if they are not on a house or poerwlines...

I just love how you call adelaide fire up on the radio and they wont talk to you so I rang them while doing so another group in our region was also calling them via radio and they would not answer. When I spoke to comms to say we got the stop call via pager,I said BNGJGHGU group is and has been calling you on 232 and they still would not talk to them.....

I read a fax from the CFS COMMS and they said it should be fixed in a few days now that was two weeks ago...as for remembering numbers very hard when one has a group pager and you get so many filtered numbers.. Bring back the brigade name, remove daily inc and do we really need to know how many calls have been sent out during the day???

Closed booked now there is one problem that needs to be removed, that way city people could join as seasonal firefighters and still have access to training and team work

Interesting that you say disban the SES,a number of country ses units no longer have the mann power to get their appliances out the door and for some crazy reason the people up the ladder(ses) will not allow these units to become part of a cfs brigade all for the sake of keeping a controller in a job.

If we look around the state there is over duplication of services(MFS/SES/CFS) in country towns that can no longer support all 3 or 4 volunteers services but yet the powers to be just let them keep going with low crew numbers and at what cost to the community. We also see new sheds(stations) going up for services that don't have the mann power or the call out rate's. Is it fair that the community and its taxes are wasted in this way????

If services want and are willing to amalgamate then let them for the sake of the community who as been supporting and supply members for all theses services but can no longer do so.

Back on topic,i agree with pip the closes service should be sent..

« on: July 15, 2007, 05:07:07 PM »
I have spoken to a number of brigade's who have the pbi gear all say its nice and warm and in many cases too filtered warm to wear and you better start drinking before you get to the job.also the gear is bulky and hard to wear in,also not sure if its true but pbi gold may not be on our stock order much more could be getting replaced.....

The only way that I can see you getting two HP lines is to have a mid mount pump with 2000lt water and 100lt of a or b class foam rear hose lockers but then again its not up to us its up to the state committee

You could run out a shortline of 38mm hose for protection...the thing is we all need to look at changing the way we do things and with new appliances coming out I am sure that we all wll have to have a re think.i guess we could ask eden hills, nuri or millicent how they feel with only one hp line but I would say that it does the job.

Country Fire Service / Re: Captains
« on: July 07, 2007, 05:25:55 PM »
Leadership is a good, the hard part is that members dont really see or know what the captain does away from the brigade. They attend meetings, get loads of mail and have to deal with the what if's.  OHSW/SOPS?COSO are all what one is expected to know and it does not happen over nite. So my vote is for leadership.

Our 34 which is 4 almost 5 years old did have problems and has been back to moores for repair work still goes fine i must agree that it takes awhile to get used to the height and the swaying but it is a mtter of driving it and learning what it can or cant do.
