MFS paging currently not available.
Hope everyone has a backup plan/town siren etc.
Which begs the question how many stations still have one and use it, and how many dont?

At Least it wasnt this time yesterday (Freeway Third alarm grass fire)...the co-ordination of dispatchs woulda been filtered.

Some of the despatching was stuffed. Appears there was confusion over the 'Impact Strike Team' terminology.

Really the term strike team, is rather over used, i think. maybe "Relief Team"?
Striking upon a fire really only happens when the fire is "GOING", right?

Absolutely. But when responding you can only go by the info supplied to you. Not even sure if a pump even got started on any of the responding strike/mop up team let alone any crew get out of a truck.

My understanding was that an 'Impact' Strike Team is usually designed to be initial 'quick' response into adjacent groups, whereas the 'Campagain' Strike Teams are for a longer deployment time, with a longer mobilisation time, to nearly any point in the state. Different setups for each type allowed different configurations of vehicles to be taken offline for S/T duties. Eg: Your group might be fine to be tanker-less for 12 hrs(Impact), but not 3 days(Campagain).
The Cascading idea was slowly introduced over the years to stop stupidity, such as brigades turning out for 25mins to form up at the group base, then responding back past their own station on route to the fire, and hour later. This seems to be the case in the Adelaide Hills at least.

There are only two brigade's within the Naracoorte group with a station siren(Naracoorte and Frances) so not sure how we are ment to let the rest of the group know......I know UHF radio ?? or smoke signal.....

The Doo has a siren which we manually set off if we require extra crew and also every wednesday night at 1900 Hrs for testing purposes
