No real need for it to be attached to responses but that is just what happens in SACAD sometimes.

Happens in SACAD because it is an available resource.

What about the 3 appliances to an RCR thing. Any idea of the reason for that?

Just the way the response plans & station beat lists work with each other. EMA RCR response looks for a minimum of one rescue and one pump plus either one MFS or CFS appliance depending on which area. In the case of three Salisbury CFS appliances to the same job I would presume that local MFS were busy, so rather tHan going crazy and pulling a truck from miles away it fills that spot with the next nearest appliance.

If it wasn't meant to be picked up for jobs it would be 'out of service'.

There is a similar setup on KI, where Kingscote have a Bravo34, Charlie34, Delta34, etc. They are all "out of service" until the brown stuff hits the whirly thing

SASES / Re: change in SES SCC
« on: July 03, 2012, 02:16:42 PM »
It will be a shame to see the volunteer role end, many people have provided a lot of hours service to the local community through the SES SCC.

What will the SES SHQ units primary role now become Andrew?

Adelaide Fire, who should know who has been responded, don't pass on stop calls or sitreps from the first service to attend to any others.

We can only pass on information if we receive it ;)
If & when stops are received they are passed on to all attending agencies.

I also think it's about time the SES management realised they are not an emergency service (there are so many examples why this is the case, eg. response pages in some cases just go to a single staff members pager and they chase up people via phone, sending someone out to recce things first before responding, units that respond 30mins, 1hr, 3hrs whatever later, and so on, all these mean it can't be an "emergency"), that doesn't mean the service they provide isn't valuable of course, just not an "emergency".  Unfortunately there's too much vested interest, it needs the safecom chief to smack some sense into them.

Wow, what a very broad, uneducated and unfortunately typical statement.  You are obviously forgetting the areas that cover RCR, confined space, USAR, vertical rescue, etc etc? Or are you one of the "fire service should do it all" believers?

Not all "SES jobs" are true emergencies, and a lot of them are weeded out either at call receipt stage or by unit duty officers, however to claim that the SES as a whole is not an emergency service is a ridiculous statement, and if fishing, consider the hook well and truly taken ;)

Will take it up with them as well mate as I do regularly.

But this sort of carry on still shits me as not all course dates suit.

Country Fire Service / Re: Course Nominations

Is it this course you are waiting for?

Yep. This one among others, and know of several other people who although our brigade is below spec are unable to get on courses... seeing this kind of in house movement is infuriating and undermines the whole point of nominating to a central point to coordinate for courses. But it happens every week at about this time to fill last minute spots and im sure will continue regardless of any ranting from me.

Country Fire Service / Re: Course Nominations

Probably due to those particular groups/brigades having someone pull out at last minute! STC prob know nothing of it!

Still a bullshit system. Those people &/or brigades/groups should be passing names of those who cannot attend on to STC, so that they can then go to the next name on the list and get them on board.

Some of us have been waiting a very long time for particular courses.

Why do we bother to nominate people for courses if this sort of shenannigans continues.

SA Firefighter General / Re: GRN paging software
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:29:20 PM »
Can anyone tell me what pager addresses are currently used, ie Brigade info, Brigade response, Region weather, Region maildrop, Group info, Group officer info etc etc.  Curious to know what 'paging groups/addresses' are used.

Cheers.

All of them.

Can add 'brigade officers' to the list as well.

Riptide; hardly sensitive information.

112
Offline perhaps. Either that or just not in there zone.

Surprised they didnt put it as VEHICLE FIRE INC LPG and turn out 2 appliances.
Now let's not be silly...

Had two calls on it with conflicting information. End result was nothing found, but believe possibly one of these whopper snipper motor powered bikes that was extinguished by owner and then pedaled away...

Some strange things happen out there.

The Country Fire Service is slowly dying.

MFS manage call, receive, dispatch so if there is a boundary call who's side of the road do you think the job will be!

SACAD is written heavily leaning towards MFS and because CFS did not and still does not fully understand the model and will now and into the future get bent over by MFS

Mate it seems to me you might not have much if an idea what you are talking about.

Firstly if you really believe that MFS comms cares who's area a job is in your quite mistaken. Jobs are placed against SACAD maps as accurately as possible based on information available and resources responded per the data input from mfs, ses and CFS. If there is then deemed to be a issue with the response plan that may put lives or property at risk it will be changed by the comms officer and appropriate paperwork lodged with notifications to regions if necessary.

Re the sytstem being written and leaning heavily towards MFS, once again you may have been misinformed. The software is not designed or written by any one agency, it was purchased from an external provider and then customized with input from all three agencIes concerned to meet there needs. Any issues with responses are not the fault of the "MFS", responsibility falls on those who have provided data.

I read a set of minutes from a recent CFS meeting where quite a few comments were of an almost slanderous nature towards what they called "Adelaide fire operators", as a person who is both a CFS vollunteer of twelve years, ex-CFS staff and currently employed by the MFS I was pretty disappointed to see all of this when I feel MFS Comcen does it's best to facilitate the needs of all three services operationally, with the training and the facilities provided and the data & response plans that have been entered by all agencies.

Perhaps you and your brigade should organize a visit to the Comcen to clear up any misconceptions. Feel free to organize it on a night when I'm there and I will assist with a tour.

Hopefully I have not misread or taken your comment the wrong way.

Alex

Time to shut them down surely.
Before they do the inevitable and burn out a few houses or kill someone.

Total Fire Ban, closest four trucks per the beats programmed by CFS. Plus EMA area so it puts on a fifth truck which the system forces to be an MFS appliance.

If a single appliance is required for a specific role this can be done.

It's the idiots coming up on air for grass, house etc fires and listing a whole bunch of appliances that is being refused. This is where alarm levels are to be used.

Matt, simple answer is no.

If brigades ESZs and station preference lists are wrong then change them, don't try to change the way the system is run.

122
After consultation with comms and a few others it will only show the current alarm level.

123
It's all relative.

124
The pager message & the article are related

Pip

But still a completely unnecessary wayste of emergency service resources and time. That is NOT an emergency.

But until we start refusing to attend these bullshit things, we will keep on being responded.

SACAD seems to be working alright although i can pinpoint only 1 issue without blowing it out of proportion

1 and only issue: Brigades 10 or more minutes away being dispatched to an incident when there are closer appliances like just down the road or 3-5 minutes away

Then Put in the paperwork to change the ESZ size/shape and station sequence.
