I still reckon the MFS are better
As a fulltime firefighter, I think both services have equal merits.
You however, need to seriously think about what you say before you type.
Hope you feel better for enlightening us with your comments doug. Don't be afraid to keep them to yourself next time.
Your my hero seems your a fulltime firefighter

I don't want to be your hero doug, I would much rather be able to read a forum without posts like yours which only insight trouble, or the ' stirring of the pot '.
Grow up.
Doug, I would be happy for you to tell everyone that MFS is better, if you have evidence to back it up, if not I think you should SHUT THE F&*K UP!
^^Agree's with pixie.
If we were paid, fulltime firies i would hope we would be more experienced and "Better" at the job than a volunteer service.
The statement begs the question..... better at what?
COQ's??? :-D :-D
Taking it the wrong way, it's like a amateur golfer and a pro having a comp technically the pro should win because he does it for a living but the amateur is also very good but only does it as a side thing. Hence the better in "". I don't think that made any sense but :|
HAHAHAHAHAHAAH you loser doug.
CFS are better at rural fire
What is it with you? If i remember correctly you are responsible for several topics which just start with a short non descriptive sentence. If i wasnt mistaken i would say you are trying to stir scheiße!
Anyway....As its been said each service has its own merits. But something to remember is that you cant generalise the two services also as there is some CFS brigades that train and attend more jobs (structural & rural) then some MFS brigades & vice versa.
Also i believe funding and equipment also have a part to play in this argument.
Cam,may be he has short man problems......
If this is the pond and Doug threw out the bait who are the fish? :-D
Bait or sheit ?
I m still waiting for doug to tell me WHY mets are "better"??
I think by just reading the posts on this topic it is easily to see why the Mets are Number 1

I couldn't agree more
So its "We're only part time volunteers" when challenged about skill levels. But its "I know everything about firefighting, and i'm not scared to voice my opinion" when not under any real pressure.
"You want the truth, you can't handle the truth!" So c'mon kiddies bring it on, i'm waiting for it
Quiet shift today boys?

Quiet shift today boys?
And you ask this because?
Im only guessing, but over time I have observed that yours and K99's posts occur when a particular shift is on duty.
Not that there is anything wrong with adding to and assisiting this forum with your knowlegde and experience, but I for one pick up on the often snarly and sarcastic comments, and im assuming others do to. (Not saying that all of them are by any means... :-) )
A little professionalism is all that could be asked for.
Stay safe. :-)

All I can say is this:
Dang straight i'm sarcastic and snarly. And yep I reackon others would pick it too, so don't think its just you being all ultra sensitive, coz its not
And as to the question of what shift i'm on, well it goes like this, am I even a paid firefighter, I can't ever actually recall stating whether i'm a full time firey or vollie, so i'll just let you keep guessing.
And you've got every right to keep us guessing.. :)
Stay safe 8-)
But as yet, no one has actually given any examples of ** what ** MFS are supposed to be better at.....

there's been the odd comment dropped that pointed to paid FF
Maybe he is just a wannabe paid firefighter :-P
Are you also a CFS member RescueHazmat?
If MFS are the best why do the CFS and SES teams place better at the local and overseas
RCR comps ??
As far as RCR comps go. The SA MFS ream are mostly CFS members anyway...
give Laura SES their kudos please, they beat apid and vollie fire brigades.
LAURA SES ARE BETTER!
:-P
mmm so many quotes, so little space, well lets kick it off
Wannabe paid ff?, well that would make me a vollie
Fire03Rescue you may just want to look over the results of the last 3 (and only) Safecom RCR Challenge results before you post such absurd comments (Overall Salisbury MFS would be the winners over a 3 year aggregate)
Chirp/Vibrate and which SAMFS team would you be talking about? Riverland combined? Adelaide "A" Shift? or Salisbury (ahhh that's right 2 members both from Blondeside CFS out of a 6 man team)
yes Ryan Laura SES are a fantastic RCR competition brigade, but what is this topic? MFS struth I would ask you to keep SES related comments in the SES thread!
(Oh take a pill, only teasin ya)
let's not let this get into an unfriendly debate.
We all know debating an irrelevant thing like who is or isn't better is futile and a waste of time.
I will lock the thread if it gets silly! :|

Awwwww c'mon Firefrog don't be like that, I like silly it keeps me entertained..
Big Yellow Gongbeater you live in the past!
Your gong might have beaten well in the past, but now it not as loud.
But on aggregate you are the winner.
Fire frog is that silly ?

the ones on this forum are certainly better at trolling and winding up the suckers that fall for it (everytime too!)
PS Firefrog like your comment "I will lock the thread if it gets silly!", so you're implying it was sensible to start with!
Mmm, he's obviously not in both services or he may have some respect for both and if he is who i think he is he has had his arse saved by CFS many times over the years and he has helped CFS many times so it's hard to see why he is making comments like these.
He is just having fun and likes to stir,
This thread only became silly after the first person responded to the initial and very true statement

 In the past ha ha ha
One only has to check the arro website to get a handle on placings from the Australisians. From memory its www.arro.org.au. MMM oh gee have a look 2005 overall winner Unlimited Pit Salisbury MFS. SES Directors Shield Laura SA. mmmmm No CFS brigades listed there, lets look at 2006 oh gee highest placed SA team Oh No :-o Salisbury SAMFS 6th best placed SACFS team Blackwood in 8th. Well well well that's at the national level.
Oh and who is Arro,,,Australisian Road Rescue Organisation. Check the facts first kiddies before you bag me
And before you all get too carried away, great competition teams just mean they have the time to train for competitions. There are plenty of awesome SAMFS, SACFS and SASES brigades that display fantastic "down the road, on the job" road crash skills who don't compete at comps.
Oh and by the way, it's never been my gong to beat, I leave that to the dreamer wannabe's.
My goal in life is to highlight their inadequacies.
How can such a BS topic get 37 replies??
QuoteHow can such a BS topic get 37 replies??
People must feel strongly about it...
(Make that 39 replies ;))
By the way brother there are 3 CFS people in the salisbury SAMFS team.
Just coz Mo isn't at Salisbury MFS station... you may have missed something there.
by the way you should be more worried about which state wins not which service.
That makes 40 replies.......
come on guys back to the topic of the post, MFS being the best. :-P
41.
what a waste of firefrogs web space...
lock it off firefrog.
i cant be bothered... besides we all know SES is actually the best....
