Gday,
Just wondering to those who have tankers do you ever use them just as a fire fighting appliance or just a tanker? Noticed that some have a few fire fighting capabilities. Are these just for self defence purposes or for fire fighting in general?
I think most have just self defence capabilities, ours is only used as a tanker as if it gets driven off bitumen it doesn't have enough power to drive on grass :-D
It would make sense to have HP lines etc available on the BWC in case of a burnover.
Have seen Tankers driving around the fireground with the valve cracked for mopup :-o
We would love a bulk water tanker (or two) on EP...we have to utilise more appliances to cover the turn around time or engage contractors... :-o
Saw Lucindale BWC (17?) for the first time today. It is an ex milk tanker. Whats the deal with these do the CFS have to go and source a prime mover from somewhere to haul it or do they have arrangements set up with local contractors/companies?
Kyeema group has one of the ex milk tankers as a bwc. An arrangement has been organside with local transport company's to move it
Couldnt think of a better use for retired milk tankers....definitely the way to go for CFS in areas with poor water supply :-)
I would say lucindale will tow it with there car one(lolololol) Joke I will find out for you athol...where was it in there staion or across the road?
Parked behind/next to the station.
