bittenyaka - it doesnt have anything to do with that i dont think.. from my experience there are two types of brigades...
1/ follows SOPs for standard responses, standard crewing, out the doors in a timely manner and defaults when they need to...
or
2/ does whatever they want, goes everywhere priority one even if its just bob in the QAV 30minutes after page, go whether they have 1 or 12 crew crammed into the truck & are lucky if they go anywhere in 20minutes who cares about defaulting..
end of the day, there are brigades that do the right thing (and thats what it is called when you follow SOP and provide a correct & reasonable response to an incident) and then there are brigades that do what they want... it has been said in many other threads, end of the day the OIC of an incident needs to justify there actions, and that includes stop calling or responding over the top resources.

It is a known fact that many rubbish fires end up being structure fires due to wheelie bins and/or industrial bins pushed up against the building. If its Seaford brigades area they can send two appliances if they want to

I was always taught at courses and the CFS/SES Leadership course:-
"praise in public, discipline in private"
Why does it not occur to anybody that the page that was sent out was intended ONLY for Seaford members which would "theoritically" be the case. If there was no online pager decoder we (the public) would not know of this message so it would be private.
The messages on the site are intended just for those who it is addressed too.........If its not on your pager, its not for you.

Recently, a unit was set up in the hills with number plate recognition device which scans number plates as you drive plast, and if a known arsonist went past it would flag it.

my brigade (upper sturt) goes to a few tree jobs. some are pathetic things that barely deserve the title tree. i remember on the night of the big floods in the hills someone called in a fallen tree n when we go there it was a wattle bush that would've been a metre in diameter. I recall us just pushing it off the road, didn't even need cutting.

In further response to P.F's comments. My optinion only
Both MFS and CFS have a job to do, wether it be as a professional paid service or as a volunteer service.

I know CFS means "Country" Fire Service, but that doesn't mean that a tree down is automatically their task,

What's your thoughts on the fact that it would take quite alot longer to remove a tree which has the potential to cause vehicle accidents? Do you still think it should be the SES/councils job?
