Part of the problem is that people in MFS comms would not have a clue where the Big Orange is. This is a problem in many parts of the state where people give a landmark that is generic to the area but does not specify to the comms operators where that place is in the road.
SAAS seem to have a bit better system where they can put actual addresses of premises not the MVA is near. Not sure how that works but they seem to be able to pull addresses from a white pages type of arrangement.

Hate to say it but I'm one of those. I can tell you 'turn right at that place with the awful palm tree in the lawn' but I can't tell you what street that is. I navigate by landmark, its just how my brain works....

Turn left into the street with the big Yellow house over the hill turn hard right where they crashed the car 15 years ago and drive past the house with the good looking ladys in it.....It does happen.....

Some years ago when I was in CFA a lady rang the fireline said her house was on fire and that she lived in a rosa st xwy town...while the officer was taking down the info I looked it up on the PC and no such street in our group area..The officer then said to the lady how do we get there from the fire station she said TAKE ONE OF THOSE RED FIRE TRUCKS and get here and she hung up......Lucky we had another call to a house fire in rose street......No OOO caller ID back then....

Not too bad this time - except it was on the RENMARK side
Not sure why Glossop & then Monash were responded, would have thought Lyrup would have got the first shout. Glossop told comms that Monash was closer.
It turned out to be a easy job, no casualties however both cars will be written off.
And yep I'm no good at landmarks - love Grid references :-D
cheers

For todays job?
Because if they had a stop call, they arrived (full noise) anyway.
If it was the other day why? And while I agree don't want to many - some fire cover was required today as the damage was significant. As I said we had a bit too much fire cover but at the end of the day no harm was done.
If it was the other day at the big Orange then the wrong service was sent in the first place
cheers

If you go by some peoples logic, as long as someone was there, doesnt matter if it was the wrong service.
Treat everyone as if they are an idiot, until they prove you otherwise.

Yes thats true & at the end of the day fire cover was provided.
However it doesn't help interservice relations does it?
I have been talking to our friends from the CFS about using ALL of the resources available in the area re: Bruno bay fires & then someone for whatever reason goes against the RCR directory, MOU, business rules or whatever thing you guys have.
As I said I don't personally care, but one has to ask whats next?
Just to get the numbers up respond 609 instead of 91?
And in a small area people soon find out whats going on & start asking questions so nothing stays secret for long.
Anyway cheers & thanks for another insight into the way the fire services work

Chook
Someone in COMCEN didn't know where Big Orange was...
They looked and thought Berri was closest and paged Berri...
Another operator in COMCEN called via Alerts Phone by then Appliance had already responded...Stop was already put on call when they realised it was in CFS area...
Who cares , end of day fire coverage was there...NO PROBLEMS!!

lets all remember, ALL of the comcens can only ever respond brigades/units using the information from the public.... which is not always a reliable source ;)

I can't beleive you guys think its a big conspiracy, to get the MFS call numbers up, OH MY GOD !!

If you put sturt hwy , berri into the system its gonna suggest MFS, somehow I doubt there is an address of "the big orange, berri" Whilst this old system is in use the guys can only put in the system what they receive, especially if the call is 3rd hand from another agency.

Arm chair experts, gotta love em !!

Not an arm chair expert (don't have arm chairs in rescue trucks :-D)- past calls to same location (Big Orange Sturt hwy) has triggered a CFS response.
Like all tasks where things don't seem quite right, I checked with the local brigade who knew nothing about it!
Therefore without the access to the comm centre logs, just asked you guys that are all knowledgable what was going on. And low and behold got an answer to my question.
The whole point to the post which seems to have been missed is a) its not a pefect world & b) that arguments in other threads that indicate SES should get out of rescue(read the other messages)are misguided.
As said earlier I don't particularly care who turns up, as long as someone does.
Again this weekend the fire response to an incident near the same location was strange a)a brigade who were further away arrived first b) possibly too many resources responded. However better too many than not enough.
Anyway have a good error free day :-D cheers

Not sure why Glossop & then Monash were responded, would have thought Lyrup would have got the first shout. Glossop told comms that Monash was closer.

Well Lyurp will not get called there because of the River, it has always been Monash responce area all the way down to the Airport at Renmark on that side of the Road. Infact if you look at the Responce area paper work with the MFS the Airport is a duel responce with Renmark MFS and Monash CFS

If you put Stuart hwy , Berri into the system its gonna suggest MFS, somehow I doubt there is an address of "the big orange, Berri"

That is really called Old Stuart Highway up to the intersection where you turn off to Monah Roads have had name changes a few years ago

Normally it will come up as Glossop CFS not sure why as they have always been told its Monash on that side and Glossop on the Other side. There system has not changed properly when they had a Road name change from Stuart Highway to Old Stuart Highway.
