well 409 did go deep into Blackwood today to cut off a womans ring...yet no CFS response...Must just be fiddlers at Adelaide Fire...

Hmmmm.. wonder what they used.
And whether/why the woman wasn't advised to go to Flinders ED.
Thay have a nifty ring-cutter there.  Looks like a small tin snip with one
regular blade & one flat plate to slide under the ring.  Much less chance of
snip... ooops! than with bolt cutters or etc.

Any ambulance etc also carry ring cutters.

I agree Alan, can't understand why a fire truck would be sent to that.

nope..ambulances don't carry ring cutters

in NSW - ambulance rescue, fire AND police rescue all carry ring cutters.

don't know of any other amb services using ring cutters tho.....

A ring cutter cuts rings and thats about it. You could perhaps use it for bangles, or other jewellery. For pipes or other objects, the dremel with a grinding disc will do the trick.

Best method other than cutting ring off is to start to work the excess skin that bunches up in front of the ring, under the ring towards the palm webbing and continue doing it while applying gentle pressure till it comes off.
Now about lubricants.......

sounding like several people have had experience at removing rings.....are we still talking about fingers...or the more exciting variety of which one DOES NOT present to hospital for removal until the distal "tissue" is at threat??

One would assume that the call came into adelaide fire and a sturt group member was in comms OR the call came in and AF called the sturt group alerts to find out if they had a ring cutter and they said we don't have one send 409.
