CFS COQ Distances
« on: September 19, 2008, 05:21:25 PM »
This is distances to MFS HQ for different brigades.
Most of the brigades do have MFS stations closer than town.
MFS HQ   Burnside   6.8Km
Belair         9.0Km
Blackwood      13.2Km
Eden Hills      14.7Km
Coromandel Valley    14.7Km
Stirling      15.4Km
Tee Tree Gully           18.2Km
Aldgate              18.4Km
Upper Sturt      18.6Km
Bridgewater      20.2Km
Happy Valley      21.9Km
Virginia      21.9Km
Might have missed some, but only looking at the brigades within about 22km

What about:

Greenhills, Summertown, Norton Summit, Montecute, Paracombe, Salisbury, Dalkeith, Piccadilly, even Basket Range would be within 22 kilometre I think

I thought Stirling would have been closer that 15.4km.

If you are dealing with stations within 25 Km, you could also include Hermitage, and I reckon Carey Gully, and maybe even Oakbank / Balhannah which would be pretty close to 25 km away.....

Hahndorf wouldn't too far out of 25km either......  :-)

Ok, now lets cut that down to brigades that should be used for CoQ:

Burnside
Belair
Blackwood
Eden Hills
Stirling
Tee Tree Gully
Happy Valley

Perhaps also:
Aldgate
Salisbury (Yeah they have enough experience chasing Red Trucks)
Virginia

I think I would giggle myself silly if brigades like Carey Gully, Piccadilly and Greenhills were seriously used for CoQ.
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

You'd probably find the likes of Salisbury would most likely do more change of quarters than some of your brigades in the top list.
Probably would give Virginia a miss though. :|
But i suppose its really up to the MFS who they want to go where i suppose?

Not really.. MFS can take 2, then ask politely, and its up to CFS to decide who they will supply.

You'll find that pretty much the only brigades that will ever do COQ are the EMA brigades around the place, althought theres no real reason why others could not.

But honestly people... wake up. All this discussion here and in the HAZMAT thread about change of quarters... Why on earth would you want to vollunteer to go and sit in an MFS station for hours on end? They pay people to do this and yet a lot of you guys are absoloutely desperate to do it free of charge?

I understand community spirit, etc.. but sometimes these things are ridiculous.

Athelstone?

And Greenhills no longer exists,..it was closed in about the 1980's I think.....and a looooong way from the City...you perhaps mean Greenhill ?

No one is asking or forcing you to do COQ,if you dont want to go then dont answer the pager,If the shoe was on the other foot where CFS where busy and mfs did COQ would it not be nice to know that a fire appliance was sitting in a empty fire station and able to turn out if needed.... Should the job what ever it is become more bigger SES rescue could also be used to do COQ???

Dont get too antsy, im just saying...

Why get all worked up about doing a change of quarters? Its not worth the heartache.

Dont forget bill, that MFS crew that might come sit in CFS area is getting paid still, where as vols are taking the day off work to do someone elses job.

Im not against helping SAMFS, just think sometimes people get a bit over the top about this scheiße.
