Why do they steal RCR gear ?
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:34:51 PM »
From paging website

....Due to a break in at coonalpyn station we are now covering them for RCR till a replacement set is sent to them we are responsible for our / there area other RCR brigades are being notified any questions please call capt....

I do not understand why would you steal rescue gear ? Will they try to sell it or use it themselves in a country / city location ? Is it just mischief ?

Fantastic to see the other volunteers fill the gap.

Quite useful for breaking and entering im told... and theivery!
I have heard a story from a very reliable source of some Lukas gear that was flogged from an SES unit, serviced by the thieves and then used for a break in. They flogged every single last thing they could, then cleaned and neatly stacked the rescue gear in the shop and left it for police. After being used as evidence by SAPol it was returned to the SES unit...

It's quite a common thing in the UK, RCR gear gets flogged all the time for jobs like Alex suggested. Still wrong though, just lucky they didn't have an RCR before they found out.
