SAAS Unit LS
« on: November 05, 2010, 10:31:28 AM »
I've been following SAGRN pager and have seen the SAAS Unit LS. Can somebody tell me their role in SAAS and what type of vehicle they drive. And lastly what types of incidents they attend. If anybody has any photos of the LS unit, could you please post them on. Thanks :)

Am certain bordey or some of the other SAAS guys can answer, but LS (Lima Sierra) is like an area / road supervisor - S = South, W = West, E = East and N = North.

They tend to have Ford Territory's or Commodore wagons and provide scene / incident management as well as clinical support and also extra equipment to jobs. Might also be an after hours workshop support by carrying globes / fuses etc.

Could be wrong on the above and look forward to jamesG or Bordey replying..???!!

Cheers

Lima Sierra callsigns are ACTL=Area Clinical Team Leader as are LN,LE,LW.

The numbers can be 1,2,3,or 4 after it depending on what shift ie LS1 or LS2 which is the South ACTL

Lima Sierra's vehicle is a Ford Territory as are most of the ACTL's

They are not a workshop vehicle, that's what they have Workshop 15 for who does all the after hours fix up jobsetc.

Cool, thanks, have any pictures? Also H702 or H712 are also called, are they in the same unit as LS1? Are LS1 the managers of the H702, H712 or are they different?

Yes I do have pics, and LS runs from McLaren Vale Ambulance Station.

The Hotel cars you refer to are Extended Care Paramedics, and are not in the same unit or control as LS1.

Would the Vito Van above be the one who would attend this incident:

1930811   17:34:19 05-11-10 EC12 Cat4 1a Churchill Av, Glandore 129 K11
SAAS Unit H51

as an example.

Would I be right in thinking that they do not carry patients?

Whilst I wont disagree, I reckon I have seen pager messages asking various Lima staff to meet road crews with globes and fuses for A/H fixes....

Correct. Extended Care Paramedics provide a service that is designed to prevent hospital admissions by treating on scene for some of the most common hospital admissions. They can also refer to other secondary health services.

er...close boys and gir

Hotel cars are SPRINT cars - based out of Mitcham and Port Adelaide.  they use Subaru Foresters.

Echo Charlie cars are ECP's.  They use Vito's fitted out with extra space for all the catheters and stool sample pots they need to carry!

Thanks for all the info. Can somebody tell me where the ECP's operate from (EC12 which station?). Also any more pictures would be greatly appreciated of LS or any ECP's.

Across the road from KFC!

I don't think so anymore. Looked like it was being levelled/demolished as I came through tonight.
There was asbestos signage on it earlier in the week.

The ECP's moved out of the Parkside base...they now have a place at Norwood...

So all of them operate out of Norwood if i'm hearing correctly. But what about the unit that operates out south places like Moana, Aldinga, Norlunga, Aberfoyle Park ect.

which one down south?    ECP's are only located centrally, but go anywhere between gawler and Aldinga as required.

ECP's have a temporary home at Norwood while the new Parkside Station is being built on the site that has been mentioned (yes...across from KFC)

The last I heard - the intent is to move the City crews out of Wakefield Street to the new Parkside Station, along with the ECP's.

must be good KFC there....word has spread and everyone wants their share

Interesting choice for a site, not the biggest block in the world. Multi story building maybe???.....maybe the City crews spent too much time in Wakefield St and want their own pole??

Just getting back to LS crew. I saw someone getting out of LS1 car (same number plate and fleet number), but on the back of their uniform it indicated that they were a "Rescue Paramedic". Now this (I thought) was for SOT. Any ideas :?
