Removing members from the books
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:08:17 PM »
I heard a rumour that the CFS wants to remove members who don't appear at training within a period of 1 month off the books. Can any one shed any light on this?

Sounds like just a rumor to me... however it certainly would not hurt to remove people from the books who have not appeared in 12 months with no explanation.

Brigades can have their own rules, but it's not an automatic process.  You have to write to them I think twice before an application can be made to region to have them removed.

I think membership of many experienced long serving members will end up being cancelled or handed in if that came in.  Its hard enough getting them to do the burn over drill some times.

Go read up. Missing more than 3 training sessions in a row, without written explaination is pretty much grounds to be turfed.

It's all there in the Regs, its nothing new.

Just on this same topic, have any other brigades had ten year medals turn up for members who havent been around for 5 or so years? funny stuff, just another waste of $$$.

If the said member had completed their 10yrs of service prior to leaving, then despite no longer being a member, (for some inexplicable reason) they are entitled to a medal.
Being CFS sometimes these things take a while to come through. Last year we had a member with 19yrs (on TAS) receive their 10yr...
Hmmm, a large unused document that is extremely important, but knowone knows what is in it or what it does.

Not the case in this circumstance though, only had 4 years of actual service i believe.

It's all there in the Regs, its nothing new.

Actually, I think you'll find the Regs talk about brigade meetings, not training nights...

Very good, and very correct. Specifies 'Monthly Meetings'

Sorry, I get slow of an evening sometimes :(
