It sounds like the possums had gastro and were getting some water to drink  :lol: :-P

haha, yeah a girl in my brigade works for parks and made that call. some parks boys picked these two drums up found under a tarpaulin near sir mark oliphant park. they then brought it back to belair and were just gonna dump it when the girl from my brigade walked past the drums and got caned with this brutal odour. she then rang hazmat. didn't find out what it was though. Personally I believe leftovers from a clandestine drug lab, as they are becoming quite common in the back of the hills.

well, theres the full story, straight from the horses mouth.

yeah, well she was there and told them to call hazmat, so it would appear to be pretty accurate.

ha ha ha - how to distort facts in one easy post - anyone for Chinese whispers  :wink: ....... have heard a different version from the local crews who responded

Does however raise a question - the drums were emitting a noxious vapor - hence the burning of eyes and throats of those that eventually called Hazmat - being NPWSA staff, wouldn't they have done BFF1 or Level 1 and hence basic Hazmat????

Would you move/relocate half full drums of an unlabeled substance thats in a place it shouldn't be and you don't know what it is???

very tru ozFire...

u would wonder what happend to basic training...

from what i hear, 4 seperate drums were picked up by a parks worker on rounds and put in the back of a ute... the parks worker then realised at the park gate that some of the drums contents had leaked, and a fire brigade response was transmitted...

interesting to note that a proper (SOP) HAZMAT response wasnt sent on the intial response page...
