What books about firefighting do people know of?

As I mentioned in another thread got a good book about Queensland Fire and Rescue Service by Gary McKay, "Firefighters"

(preferably books being sold in Australia)

Does the MFS station sell books?

Got 2 from Adelaide, Firehouse-about a crew who went into the 9/11 towers and only one survived. Its a story about fireghters doing it as a job and the brother hood etc. ALso ordered one called "Fire trap" also known as "3000 degrees" About a crew in Massacussets who are trapped in a windowless brick wharehouse and their sory of how they got out. That will take 4-6 weeks to come in from England though.

Still missing one from my list and was owndering if Wakefield St station sold books.

I have 3000 degrees. And its a true story about the Worchester cold storage Fire.. But not how they got out... Cause they didn't.

cant remember the authors.. but a couple of good ones are "the red watch" (UK) and "20,000 alarms" (american)

Another good on is Last man down, by Richard Picciotto, a NYC Fire Chief. He tells his story of him and his batallion entering the World Trade Centre. He has also done quite a few TV interviews about 9/11.

cyber, the "shuttup" was in jest and I know people wouldnt go spoiling a book, as it happens you know people die anyway from looking at the front cover.

Dont wanna lock it then no one can post about firefighting books.

My wife has got me a few books of ebay and I reading one at the moment about a firehouse crew that where involved in the 911 twin towers and its great.. Was written by the battalion chief and its great....

Not quite a book, but the Firehouse magazines produced monthly are a good read.

Obviously a lot of the American way of doing things does not equate directly to us but there still many excellent articles.

From memory subscription is about $90 a year (worth it for 12 mags).

Have bought some IT technical books from Amazon. They are very quick and cheap.

You can get last man down at all good book stores - It has a slightly different cover but exactly the same story. I read it just after 9/11 - very good.

Read back in January that a book was released about the 2005 West Coast fires. Only thing was that it was a limited print run and all the copies were pre-sold. If anyone turns one up somewhere I would be very interested. There was no mention of a possible re-print.

A good book is one by Joseph Wambaugh called Fire Lover, about a fire investigater in Southern California with a dark side. True story and a good read with lots on the technical side.

Another excellent read is Red Adair's biography.

Sorry, can't remember the name of it, I read it years ago.
