Latest Update from the DSE, certainly sounds interesting.

Statewide Update - 20 September 2006 11.00am
In Victoria fires on public land are shown on the statewide map.
Wednesday 20th Sept 11am
There are a number of fires burning on public land across Victoria.

The Southern Sunset fire (formerly referred to as the Berrook East fire), in the Murray Sunset National Park, is currently estimated at 17,500 hectares. The fire has not affected private land and remains contained within the park.Visibility in the area is poor due to smoke.
DSE resources are concentrated on the public / private boundary and will work with the CFA to protect any private land.
Residents and visitors are asked to stay away from the area, particularly around the Sunset Track and Underbool Track in the Murray-Sunset National Park.

There are two fires in the Otways. A fire at Delaneys Rd, near Barwon Downs has been declared controlled at 7am .A second fire at McCalls Rd near Yodene is under control.DSE and CFA are jointly patrolling this fire.

Near Healesville a fire at Myers Creek Rd is contained.
A one-hectare fire near Mansfield is under control.
