Does anyone know of a good way to clean resin (or gum) that drips off gumtrees off a car?

~1990 Camry. Over the roof, windows and doors... I've tried the usual soaps and elbow grease but it still seems to leave a layer of the stuff...

There is an orange/citrus based cleaner that will lift it - you can find it in the supermarker

Our detailer at work tells me eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil (eucalyptus is the best) and there is no elbow grease involved, comes straight off. He said to ensure you give it a good polish after tho.

Wouldnt eucalyptus oil and gum tree resin be a similar make up?

Anything sticky, eucalyptus is the go. Bubblegum in kids' hair, sap on cars, that gooey stuff in your carpet that nobody knows anything about, you name it eucalyptus will remove it.

don't you leave it there as a safety warning to others? Similar to the retardant from the Mt Osmond fire that was all over the freeway for yonks before finally wearing off.

I would remove it ASAP, or you will be left with a nasty stain... - Only way to get that out is a deep buff ($$$) or worst case, re-spray !!
