You tried this on ozfire, and supposedly "fixed" whatever the problem was.....  :?

If you have a genuine problem, then perhaps contact the Volunteer Support Officer at your local Regional office.

If you don't have a genuine problem, and start posting rubbish, please stop and grow up.

as Pip said, contact the volunteer support officer at your regional office (if you're in region 1, it's Julie Francis on 8391 1866).  Alternatively there's the SPAM (stress prevention and management) team at HQ on 8463 4200.

Any issue that upsets someone needs to be 'checked out' and the volunteer with the issue assisted. How else do we keep trained volunteers within SES or CFS.

SAFECOM Volunteer Management Services have setup 'Volunteer Harassment Contact Officers' around the state from both services.

Calling the 1300 364 587 will give you a CONFIDENTIAL referral to another trained volunteer.

The volunteer you talk to will not be part of your original brigade or unit. Everything is confidential while they assist in the problem.

This service is available to all CFS & SES volunteers.

And I have not even done the course yet. :wink: I just live with a wonderful caring person who has just completed the SAFECOM Volunteer Harassment Officer training. She is also a trained Family Support worker so I get to know the process. Hopefully she will become part of the SPAM team next year.

Hopefully our SES Unit will have David Baker (VSO Mt Barker)do the presentation in early 2007.

i think each brigade should have a set of boxing gloves and some of those blow up baseball bats and then just resolve the problem with them dignity training(load of crap)

might be a good idea there blinky...

we had a storm damage evening (ran about 25 jobs) a year or so ago, and a person i had never had an issue with before absoloutely blew up in my face for very little reason... telling me he was gonna take me outside and beat me and so forth.

situation was almost handled with the use of a maglite i had at the time...  :-P

Maybe I am reading this wrong (I hope so). Why is treating all volunteers with respect, valuing a different opinion but still following operational lines of control and resolving problems before they explode a LOAD OF CRAP !!

Not all problems can be resolved. Sometimes it is a 'agree to disagree' situation. Sometimes it is best if a volunteer does leave rather than upset the whole team. Not everyone will fit in.

But I personally believe a fair percentage of volunteers leave the services for resolvable issues. It takes so much time, cost, etc to train someone. Better to keep them than spend money in recruiting replacements.

I remember in another posting that people were complaining because volunteers are leaving and the lack of female volunteers. Maybe we can resolve the issue before they leave  :x
