A little bird tells me Mt Barker has received their new 24P

Could this spell the end for Dennis the Menace

That was a quick turn around. Must of just rebadged HV24P, gave it a quick clean and checked its kit. Good luck with it!

It is the same vintage as the 24P they lost to Littlehampton. Wouldn't think there would be much difference.

What is their short term plan? Hold onto Hahndorf pumper or use 24P as their primary urban appliance and give the type 2 back?

yes our new 24P is just a HV rebadged.

The Heysen group Officers lost their balls and sent Hahndorf pumper back to Hahndorf (u really have to wonder why you would send a pumper back to a station that cant crew it and has bugger all urban risk)

So we are now responding Barker Rescue as our primary truck for all urban and rescue jobs with 24P being backup

DGO1 has told us that we should respond hahndorf and little hampton if we need them, I DON'T THINK SO,

you group officers will pay for this bad decision

I think vincent will be getting his rear kicked for what he has said and may be it is about time that marker did call for back up and use what is in your group..Last time I looked your rescue was a type two pumper so what is your problem........

Think the problem is that they might as well call in a crew from Adelaide by the time the others got crews and decided to rock up...

I think the problem here is that airing your complaints on here (rather than at a group or regional meeting) is in no way productive. Publicly slagging off a fellow brigade (or your group officers) says more about the complainer, to me, than what is being complained about.

Barker will actually decide to de-register themselves as a CFS brigade and then form their own fire service, supplying a range of fire and EMS resources. MFS will then move in and a bitter row will evolve, crews will arrive and park on others hoses and fights will break out at jobs, crews in BA in going house fires will even have to deal with crews from other services turning off their air sets, some of this will be captured by the media and there will be public outcry.

Eventually Barker will prove that they provide a service equally as well as their paid brothers and the MFS will be asked by the community to leave town, Barker will once again reign supreme and will remain as a private fire service supported by the community and won't have to deal with the crap the CFS deals out to them anymore.

Just the way I see it unfolding in the future.

The fact that its our dedicated RESCUE appliance, hence the RESCUE callsign. If it is committed at a job where a pumper is required and a RCR is required, backup is a fair while away, and like all volunteer brigades there's no guarantee its coming either.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but isn't 24P your backup in that situation? For sure, respond Rescue where a pump is required, but if Rescue is already tied up and you have crews available for a second appliance/job then send 24P. Heck, 24P is good enough for a lot of brigades as their primary urban pump, it should be good enough for Mt Barker as a backup pump??

I also do realise that MtB have been accustomed to a dedicated pump as well as a seperate Rescue, and have had to back pedal to their original setup of 24P/24/Rescue, and no one likes going backwards - but at least their current rescue is MORE than capable as a Pumper.

I just think that a lot of noses will be put out of joint if MtB get a second type 2 before some other brigades can even get their first one. My two cents.

I agree with Calspec. Some brigades are more needing of a Pumper Appliance where their Urban risk is just as great as their rural risk. Plus for you Barker Boys, wouldn't it be better for you to have a Truck that can do both Urban and Rural Firefighting to back up your 24, so you can protect assets and fire bushfires aswell with the one Truck, hell you may even get to go on Stike Teams having an Urban/Rural Firetruck

It seems to me, that what Mt Barker want they get, there are brigades around that would love to have a 24p to back up there 24p, they seem to forget they have rural risks as well, wanting to many pumpers could mean those trucks may turn red someday.
