Learning and Development Consultant for a large telco, planning, analysing evaluating and developing training for the call centres (onshore and Offshore). I can leave for calls when I can ie don't have meetings etc, my boss is in Sydney so I can just up and leave when i need or want to, just know that I need to catch up on the work at night or something, so as long as I am not missing meetings etc it is no problem.

Country Fire Service / Re: SOCC/MFS Commcen merger?
« on: June 13, 2007, 11:18:06 AM »
I know that the majority  callout's (98%)for my brigade come from MFS comm's and we don't seem to have too much trouble other than the odd human error with street names etc. Having one set of comms might help to streamline some processes such as rolling an appliance on a total fireban day where you are having to contact SOC,MFS and region as you roll out the door.

going by their website they are 408, as of the 9/5 and would of had a few more jobs since then.

Think Salisbury may of just cracked the 400 also.

Well with about 45 days left in the yearly call stats tally how are different brigades numbers looking? I think my brigade is going to be about 65-80 calls higher than last years total, what about other brigades? I think morphett vale are going to be very high also.

I would take salisbury station over some of these new sheds being built any day. It has a good location, great facilities and has plenty of room for equipment and even group resources. I would suggest that para group arnt wasting any money on the rent as it houses a brigade doing on average 350-400 jobs a year as well as storing group resources such as appliance's, parts etc.

A lot of these stations are so big because they are joint SES facilities, question was which is the biggest CFS station. This being the case it would rule out places like Kingston, Ceduna etc.

are you just talking about truck bay etc?? Salisbury could take 6 trucks in bay plus a couple of cars and then has multiple large sheds out the back also.

I understand the whole side of the bus slides out to create extra space inside. I saw it a few weeks ago at Scania workshop on south rd. Looks like a nice comms bus!!

Quote "Deputy State Coroner Tony Schapel will then take into account all submissions and hand down his findings of the Wangary fire, which is expected to occur before the next fire danger season at the end of the year."

Without prempting any of the findings, you would hope that if there are any recommendations they would be released earlier than just before the next fire season. Implementing procedural change takes time.

My opinion only.

I think skirkmoe's comment has merit, maybe have 50mm hoses as standard stowage on the type 2 pumpers??

I know we have a gym machine sitting in the back store at our station. Look's like it has been out there for years and probably never used 8-)I do know however that a few brigades have walking groups etc to promote fitness.
