Unfortunately this a big problem for pretty much all country towns regardless of whether it has CFS or MFS retained.

We still use our siren like most others mainly to get more crews, However our community actually want us to use it so that they are aware of something going on in the area. We had a stint a while back where the siren burnt out and so was off line for a time and we had complaints coming in from the community about it not being used before we could tell them it was broken.

Just curious to find out if I'm the only one who thinks SFEC's are totally crap when it comes to determining a brigades ability to operate properly ie: BA SFEC says max 4, The brigade has 4 but all can only respond at night or weekends so you try to get people who can crew daytime weekdays on courses but can't cause a piece of paper says your trained to what you need but aren't.

Hamley station was not demolished they are still in it So it is still business as usual for them, Balaklava while without a fully built station have most of there gear stored in an Alternate location while Wakefield Plains group is running out of an alternate location with most of it's furniture and equipment stored in a neighbouring brigades station. Both are still functioning as normal.

I'd say that as rural brigade your damn lucky to have 2 appliances, I know of an rural\urban brigade who is also one of the groups strike team brigades, cover 3 townships (4 if you count a neighbouring brigade who aren't BA with a 14) & they only have a single appliance so when it goes on strike team there are 4 towns with no cover.

I like the green it makes us look distinctive and look as good as blue, if you want to look like the met's go buy some red spray cans and paint ya truck. As for being on the same team, we are two different services with the same goal that doesn't mean we have to look the same. Any way the colour green has been associated with the CFS for a long time.I like looking different esspecial since the general metro populis and some country seem to think that we are part of the met's already, And to anyone who thinks it makes us look like ambos I got a pair of specs for ya.

Second hand sufficent for training is issued, Their actual proper new gear is not ordered until completion of the course. (previously we ordered ppe and then they left before doing the course)

Didn't everyone in this thread just agree that the length was fine?

..and exactly how much quicker will you 'get members onto appliances' when the course is only two and a bit days to start off with?  1 day?

Add to that they can't get on the truck until they have full level one ppe, regardless of how quick they finish the course

WHAT, You've Gotta Be joking. Last time I checked the capt is ultimatly responsible for all aspects of the brigade (including training), Not believing in training is like not believing in your crew, I would even think it would come under duty of care, OHS or something.

Fine if step 2 actually happens, One of my operators did his course but wern't sized up, neighbouring brigade same two operators did course and again not sized up, all three had to go down to Lion themselves
