All Equipment discussion / Mount Barker Pumper
« on: April 14, 2005, 12:32:08 PM »
I see the Dennis is in the workshop at the moment.  Can anyone from Mt. Barker tell us why? Is this just routine stuff or is there a problem?

CFS Cadet Corner / Youth week

Our cadets took part in the Youth team challenge at Woodhouse (and got Gold mind you!!).  This is a fantastic day with almost 1400 kids involved over two days. It is a very good team builder and everyone gets something out of it.

SAAS / SAAS Assist

Down our way our Local SAAS vollies are predominantly females and we are frequently called to their jobs for ptient lifts.  We live in a rural area and lots of their jobs are on farm etc where it is difficult to push/pull a stretcher through sand!!!  We get together every few months and do some in house training with them.  Also when we have MVA's Rescue 51 or 52 will often land on the road so we give them a hand there aswell. It also acts as a good bonder between the services.

As the guidelines state it is a code for level of preparedness.  Each Region assesses their area and submits their level.  This info is used by Regional staff and the State co-ordination centre and dictates the amount or what people are needed for standby at Region and/or SOC.. probably did go to the wrong pager address.

Country Fire Service / Helmet rank markings - use the uniform guide!!
« on: April 05, 2005, 11:52:23 AM »
Hello Good times and All.
There is a standard for the use and what is to be used in regards to helmet markings.  Good times you may have a good and valid point that is apparently very close to your heart in the use of them, but my personal opinion is not to single out or discriminate Brigades or people in a forum.

Country Fire Service / CFS ID's, How do i get them?
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:00:32 PM »
I think the ID cards are still produced at the CFS state training centre. You can either email the info there with the appropriate file names to suit each person or send a a disc with the appropriate from.

Hi Coro,
Did your Brigade purchase the O2 set or are you part of a first responders group?

All Equipment discussion / CFS GPS
« on: February 24, 2005, 02:57:20 PM »
Hi all,
After Group discussion at last meeting it seems a few Brigades require GPS units. I know that Brigades in general ran with the Garmin GPS plus 2. This unit is no longer available and suppliers have informed me that the CFS is swaying toward the Garmin GPS Map76. Have any Brigades out there purchased this unit or have any feedback on units they have purchased and like or (dislike).
Thanks, Adam
