« on: August 20, 2009, 04:33:39 PM »
I hear another long term staff member is flying the coup!
Almost a total staff change from this region in recent times.

Is it just me or are the numbers of senior long term staff members leaving the service increasing?

Better get Fox & Mulder onto this are they being taken by Aliens?

Country Fire Service / Fire Jobs what a Gas
« on: December 15, 2007, 01:36:22 PM »
I am led to beleive there is a possiblity that there may be some positions going in Moomba for firefighters over the Xmas/New year period as they need some for a big shutdown of the Gas Processing plant. A good mate of mine is going up there for the work and has told me he will put my name down if he can.

Country Fire Service / Babies @ fires
« on: December 08, 2007, 10:29:03 AM »
I am no oldie but have been in service 14 years or so and the Firies seem to be getting much younger? Did anyone see page 4 of the Advertiser with the two what looked like cadets at the O'Halloran Hill fire?

These guys should be proud that they are out there doing their bit. By the look they must be just 16.

Well done young FF's keep them coming.

I wish we had some more coming in that age group.

Country Fire Service / Goss - Aldgate to merge
« on: November 20, 2007, 12:32:37 PM »
I heard a whisper that Aldgate is going to merge with Bridgewater and that is the reason Bridgy has installed a new fence around their station.Originally Aldgate were to get a new station, but the land is to be sold. With the money from that they will build an addition to make Bridgwater even bigger to house Aldgates two appliances. The fencing will temporarily be used to store their vehicles and BW 14 is to go due to age, freeing up one bay while the other will be built next door with an opening to the rear area?
Can anyone deny or confirm this or is my source pulling my leg? Wow I thought that station was huge already!

Country Fire Service / New Dispatch Vs old SOC
« on: November 17, 2007, 02:14:36 PM »
Since the changeover to Comcen dispatch by the current system certainly seems a big step backwards. Who else is finding the service far from 1st class?

The response from Adel fire is 2nd rate they have little to no interest in CFS and are sometimes don't even bother answering radios. At least when SOC was up and running we could get some response to a radio call, these guys don't give a toss. seems like they are purposely making life difficult at the most critical time-dispatch. No longer do we get given a predetermined TG it is a case of pick your own . I wonder how this will work once the realFDS starts and things really crank up in temperature & jobs on the go? I have yet to here anyone that thinks the system is working better than it was?

Lets here from the masses. :?
