SPAM on GRN pagers
« on: May 07, 2006, 01:49:39 PM »
Just curious if anyone has been receiving SPAM on their pager. Friday morning at 0430 (yes 4:30am) I received a message about employment with a well established company.....or something like that. And also said that they accessed my details from the public web. Can't remember the full details.

Anyway then one of my brigade members mentioned that they had seen it a few times appear on the pager program.

I wasn't impressed.

(If this has been mentioned elsewhere please point me in the right direction.)

They sent a job offer to your individual pager?  Thats really not on :(  I've never heard of it happening in my brigade though...

Mate... i'd be noifying GRN Helpdesk and keeping a note of what each spam message says, each time you get a spam message ring GRN Helpdesk... because that's the last thing we need is telemarketers attacking us on our pagers at 3am.
There is always one more thing you can do...!

I have had messages on my pager from SAAS. Rang the SAAS Com cen and they said they had the right pager number. Also one person in my Brigade has had a couple of response messages for a nearby Brigade. He is the only one who has received them. Overall the system works very well.
The wonders of technology.

not too sure about the whole SPAM thing on pagers, or SAAS paging you... although it is possible if they punch in your ID and your pager is individually activated...

meanwhile... in the case of getting msgs for neighouring brigades, you should notify region and get you pager checked out as it may be programmed incorrectly.
